At a morning staff meeting on Friday, June 9, Mr. Larry Smith was announced as the next principal of Staley High School. He comes to North Kansas City Schools from the Park Hill School District where he is the current principal of Lakeview Middle School. Previously he had served as the assistant principal at Park Hill South for nine years.
Smith earned his bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Nebraska and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Doane College. He is currently working on a doctoral degree in administrative leadership from Baker University.
Larry and his wife, Elisha, are originally from Nebraska and both are Husker alumni. Elisha is a math teacher at Park Hill High School, and they have two sons, Jackson and Mason. Jackson will be entering 3rd grade and Mason will attend preschool in the fall. All are very excited to be joining the Staley Falcon family!
An open house to meet the new principal has been scheduled for Monday, June 19 from 4-6 p.m. in the Special Events Room at Staley High School.
An additional administrative change was also announced this morning. Dr. Chad Brinton, who has been an assistant principal at Staley, serving at that site since they first broke ground, has accepted a new position at the district’s administrative center as the director of core data.
Congratulations to all!
