Kids Heart Challenge
It is that time of year where we try to make a difference in the world. The charity that we are trying to help, as always, is the American Heart Association. In previous years, the event was called “Jump Rope for Heart”, but this year it has been changed to “The Kids Heart Challenge.” As part of the Kids Heart Challenge, all of our PE classes will begin a unit on basketball in which we will incorporate the importance of exercise and having a healthy heart.
Students will only be asked to participate in the Kids Heart Challenge during our basketball unit in PE (no event is scheduled outside of school). Students will be given information on how to raise money for the American Heart Association. Although it is not required, by raising money, the students will not only be helping others who are less fortunate than us, but the students will also have an opportunity to win prizes (which will be handed out a few weeks after all the money has been collected).
If a student raises money, please send the money sealed in the Kids Heart Challenge envelope and return it to Coach Coy by March 13th. If you have any questions, please contact me at: Richard.Coy@nkcschools.org or at 816 321-4403.
