Library Media Centers

  • The mission of North Kansas City Schools' library media program is to support our buildings in developing self-aware, authentically empowered, future ready learners through a rich array of purposeful learning opportunities in collaborative cultures of belonging that are culturally affirming, academically challenging, experiential and exploratory through diverse collections, innovative makerspaces, connected library lessons, and supportive resources.

  •

    • Innovation:  Libraries have always been a space full of exploration and wonder. With district support, district libraries continue to support and, in many cases, house makerspaces full of innovation for students and staff to explore. These spaces could include robots, 3D printers, manipulatives to build and create, as well as experiment with new ideas and solve problems.

    • Portrait of a Graduate is an important part of district libraries. Librarians and library paraprofessionals create themed displays and introduce monthly themes in library lessons.

    • North Kansas City libraries are open and welcoming spaces full of books for free choice reading.

      • The selection procedure for our libraries can be found HERE.

      • The selection process on how librarians select books can be found HERE.

      • Libraries in our district occasionally share titles - that process can be found HERE.

      • If you want to restrict YOUR student from a specific title, you can find that information HERE
