Science Courses

The NKCS Science department includes foundational courses in Biology and Chemistry in grades 9 and 10. In grade 11 various choices become available including Physics, Anatomy & Physiology, and several options for deeper exploration with Project Lead The Way as well as various Advanced Placement opportunities. Along with a diverse exposure to core science content, all science courses feature integrated science and engineering practices in every unit as well as key cross-cutting concepts that thread throughout all courses of study. Students graduating from North Kansas City Schools will be equipped for not only continued post-secondary coursework in the natural sciences, but also for the sort of scientific thinking and habits of mind required by an engaged 21st Century citizenry.
