College & Career Pathways
North Kansas City Schools has an exciting new learning initiative on the horizon. Beginning this fall, the district will embark on an innovative approach to transform the high school experience through College and Career Pathways. NKC Schools is focused on ensuring all students graduate with the skills and tools needed to succeed in college, careers and beyond.
Starting with incoming 9th graders in the 2021-22 school year, each of our four high schools will offer students the opportunity to be a part of one of four “schools within a school” aligned with leading industry sectors – including health, business, technology/design, and human services. Each year, our high schools will add a new student cohort, making the Class of 2025 our leaders as the very first class of graduates.
In implementing College and Career Pathways, NKC Schools will foster a rigorous and relevant program of study that will redefine what a high school education looks like. In partnership with our Portrait of a Graduate, this approach will afford students more options and opportunities to help guide them to a successful future post-graduation. More than simply being prepared to succeed, each of our students will graduate with an “edge” over their peers nationwide.
