Board of Education Meetings

  • The North Kansas City Schools Board of Education generally meets twice monthly throughout the regular school year on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month. Occasionally, work sessions are added, or a board meeting is moved. When in doubt, contact Peggy Cole, Secretary/Clerk of the Board, at (816) 321-4361.

Visitor Comments – Change in Process for August 25 Board Meeting

  • The Board of Education is amending the visitor comment time and increasing it from 30 to a total of 45 minutes at the August 25, 2020 meeting.

    We encourage patrons wishing to address the board to notify Peggy Cole at or 816.321.4361 with their request. Contact information and the topic to be addressed should be included. There will also be an opportunity to fill out a traditional yellow card upon arrival at the meeting Tuesday evening in order to share perspective, time permitting. To support the process and secure time at the meeting, we strongly encourage advance notification of an individual’s desire to speak. Speakers will address the Board in the order their request to do so is received. After those who submitted a request prior to the meeting have spoken, others submitting a yellow card will be invited to the podium in the order by which their request was received, again time permitting.

    The board will allow three (3) minutes per speaker, up to the total 45 minute allotment. This three minute limit must be strictly followed to respectfully allow everyone present and interested a chance to speak. All presenters must be masked and we will ensure social distancing before, during and after presentations. Speakers are encouraged not to duplicate comments of prior speakers to allow for adequate time to hear everyone’s unique thoughts. We will allow for presentations up to the extended time of 45 minutes and then must move forward with our agenda. Any individuals unable to speak by that point will have the opportunity to submit a written statement via Let’s Talk on the district’s website for the Board’s consideration.

    A presentation of the District’s COVID-19 plans to keep students and staff safe and other critical back to school updates will be shared later in the meeting. This will include updates regarding sports and extra-curricular activities. The entire meeting will be live-streamed on the District’s YouTube channel. Things are evolving daily. Please watch for ongoing status updates on District social media platforms and through other District communications.
