The North Kansas City Schools Board of Education provides governance for the district as its top elected officials. The Superintendent of Schools reports directly to the Board of Education.

The school board uses a web-based governance program called Community that allows Board members and members of the public to easily access current and archived school board agendas, related documents and meeting minutes in an online format.

Note: NKC Schools has transitioned to a new online governance platform, called Community, to further improve user experience when viewing Board agendas and documents. BoardDocs is now used only for archiving purposes. Please visit Community to see current meetings and agendas. For meetings prior to September 2024, visit BoardDocs.

Agendas for the meetings are posted on Community at 12:01 a.m. the day before a scheduled meeting. All agendas, supporting documents and minutes approved by the Board of Education also may be found on this site.

North Kansas City Schools will accept declarations of candidacy from any person interested in running for a position on the School Board in the April 8, 2025 election. Persons interested may file at the administrative offices located at 2000 NE 46th Street, Kansas City, Missouri.

Filing will begin on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at 8:00 am, and will continue during the district’s regular business hours, which are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Except for the first and last day of filing, filing will not occur on days that the school district’s offices are closed due to inclement weather. Filing will also not occur on the following days when the school district’s offices are closed for winter break: December 20, 2024 at 11:00 am through December 31 at 3:00 pm. The district administrative offices will be open for filing on Tuesday, December 31, from 3:00 to 5:00 pm. Filing will end at 5:00 pm on December 31, 2024. Ballot order will be determined by the order of candidate filing with the exception of the first day of filing (Tuesday, December 10, 2024), when ballot placement will be determined by random drawing.
