College & Career Pathways
North Kansas City Schools has an exciting new learning initiative taking shape in our secondary schools. In fall 2021, the district embarked on an innovative approach to transform the high school experience. NKC Schools is focused on ensuring all students graduate with the skills and tools needed to succeed in college, careers and beyond. In connection with our Portrait of a Graduate, our rigorous and relevant high school programs of study afford students more options and opportunities to help guide them to a successful future post-graduation. More than simply being prepared to succeed, each of our students graduate with an “edge” over their peers nationwide.
Each of our four high schools will offer students the opportunity to be a part of one of four “schools within a school” aligned with leading industry sectors – including health, business, technology/design, and human services. Each year, our high schools will add a new student cohort. Whether their passion lies in exploring new technology, helping others, or starting a business, students will find a home in their high school community. Pathways programs allow further exploration of potential interests while experiencing the same, consistent high-quality instruction across every option.
In implementing College and Career Pathways, NKC Schools will foster a rigorous and relevant program of study that will redefine what a high school education looks like. In partnership with our Portrait of a Graduate, this approach will afford students more options and opportunities to help guide them to a successful future post-graduation. More than simply being prepared to succeed, each of our students will graduate with an “edge” over their peers nationwide.
