North Kansas City Schools' curriculum development process begins with the Missouri Learning Standards that are provided for all grade levels and courses. Teams of teachers and district leaders utilize a process that requires them to prioritize and organize those standards into units that are engaging and relevant to students. The curricular documents created for teachers include essential questions to guide instruction over the course of a unit and student-centered learning targets that drive daily instruction.
