Math Computation Strategies
Throughout the school year, teachers in North Kansas City Schools teach multiple math strategies in addition to the traditional algorithm to solve basic computation problems. Teaching multiple strategies best supports students in becoming efficient with basic computation problems while also developing a strong sense of numbers, which is critical as students move through their PK-12 experience.
To support families, some of North Kansas City Schools' best elementary math teachers created videos to demonstrate these computation strategies. These videos should provide a better understanding of what is being taught in classrooms so parents can help support students at home.
If you have any questions about these strategies, please do not hesitate to contact your child's teacher.
