High School Equivalency Preparation Classes
We offer high school equivalency classes to help prepare students to take the HiSET OR GED exam. Morning classes are held from 9:30 am-12:00pm and evening classes are held from 6:00pm-8:30pm (Tuesday and Thursday.) Students are asked to commit to all scheduled classes to successfully prepare for the HiSET or GED Exam. Please talk to your instructor if you need to change from morning to evening classes. We will work with your schedule as we can. Students must be at least 17 years old and not enrolled in school (16 year olds must have 16 credits and an official drop letter to enroll). Click below to register for classes.
- If you are planning to take the HiSET test, the cost will be $120 for in-person testing and $172.50 for online testing for the full battery.
- If you are planning to take the GED test, the cost will be $142 for in-person testing and $182 for online testing for the full battery.
- Scholarships available for those who qualify.
- We DO NOT GIVE THE HISET OR GED OFFICIAL TEST AT THIS LOCATION. When it is determined you are ready to take the tests (through formal and informal assessment tools,) we will help you sign up for the test at the best location for you. Remote testing for the HiSET and GED is currently an option. HiSET testing information can be found at hiset.org and GED testing information can be found at ged.com.
- READING REQUIREMENTS: We require students to read English at a fifth grade level or higher. If not, we will prepare you through our English Language Learner program if applicable. Concurrent enrollment in both programs is an option for students who meet those requirements.
- Visit https://dese.mo.gov/college-career-readiness/high-school-equivalency for more information on Missouri's requirements for high school equivalency certificates.
**We conduct in-person orientations twice a year. Please check your email, including the spam or junk folder, regularly after registering so you don't miss any information. If you have any questions, please call 816-321-5011.
SNOW DAY POLICY: If North Kansas City Schools are closed due to bad weather, classes will be cancelled.
HIGH SCHOOL EQUIVALENCY CERTIFICATES: Go to www.Diplomasender.com to receive confirmation of your certificate if you have passed your tests.
