What Does CATALYST Offer?

The Catalyst Program provides students with access to a wide range of free resources and personalized support to successfully navigate the college planning process. Beginning in 11th grade, students join a cohort of scholars, building a supportive community while preparing for life after high school.

Catalyst Scholars receive individualized guidance from a dedicated coordinator, along with structured programming designed to strengthen every step of the journey—from college exploration and applications to understanding financial aid. Through targeted workshops, one-on-one support, and meaningful experiences, students gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to pursue and succeed in higher education.

Out of State College Tours

Catalyst students have many opportunities to visit with colleges. Students visit with top-tier schools when they come to Kansas City and get to learn which school might fit their interest. Students are invited to participate in a summer college experience where they visit top-tier colleges and universities across the country.  They get to spend time on campus and learn first hand about campus life, tour the college dorms, and interact with students at each campus.

Your Catalyst Experience: Explore, Prepare, and Achieve

Catalyst is your all-access pass to navigating the college journey with confidence—and it’s completely free. Starting in 11th grade, you’ll join a cohort of motivated peers, building connections while receiving personalized support from a dedicated Catalyst coordinator who’s there to guide you every step of the way.

You won’t have to figure it out alone. From ACT prep that can boost scores by an average of 3–4 points, to hands-on help with essays, resumes, and building your college list, Catalyst gives you the tools to stand out in a competitive process. You’ll work with experts who know what top colleges are looking for—and how to help you get there.

And it’s not just about applications—you’ll experience college life firsthand. Meet with representatives from top-tier schools right here in Kansas City, then take it a step further with a summer college tour across the country. Walk campuses, check out dorms, connect with current students, and start to picture where your future could take you.
