Professional Internship Program

North Kansas City Schools' Professional Internship Program (PIP) gives juniors and seniors the opportunity to extend their learning beyond the classroom through meaningful, real-world experiences. Located at the Northland Innovation Center, PIP helps students build professional skills, confidence, and adaptability while exploring potential career paths through personalized internship experiences.

Unlike traditional programs with preassigned placements, PIP matches students with internships based on their interests and career goals across a variety of industries. During the fall semester, students participate in job shadows, career exploration, resume building, and interview preparation. In the spring, they intern Monday through Thursday at their host sites and return each Friday for class, reflection, and professional development. Students also engage in client-connected community service projects, making their experiences both impactful and future-focused.
