For Families & Alumni

Welcome to the Families & Alumni page —your hub for staying connected and getting involved! Here, you’ll find job opportunities for students 18 and older, including part-time and entry-level roles that support their career growth beyond graduation.

Parents and alumni are also invited to volunteer, mentor, or participate in events that enrich our schools and strengthen community ties. Whether you’re looking to give back, share your professional expertise, or support student success, there’s a place for you here.

Strong communities build strong schools. Strong schools build stronger communities. Together, we grow.

Be A Mentor

september - april

Each Fall, North Kansas City Schools recruits industry and community volunteers who would like to mentor students in each of our academies. Our goal is to connect every 11th grader in the district with a mentor who can share their interests and wisdom as they guide our students through the challenges of academics and career decision making.

Join the Game of Life

december 2025

Each December, all 6th graders in the NKCSD participate in the Game of Life, which is an interactive simulation where students are given a family, job, and salary, then make real-world choices about housing, food, and other expenses. By balancing needs and wants, they learn practical budgeting and money management skills they’ll use in the future.
