GET INVOLVED

Be A Mentor

september - april

Each Fall, North Kansas City Schools recruits industry and community volunteers who would like to mentor students in each of our academies. Our goal is to connect every 11th grader in the district with a mentor who can share their interests and wisdom as they guide our students through the challenges of academics and career decision making.

Host an Intern

Summer

Work-Based Learning (WBL) provides many opportunities for students to intern, including paid summer internships. If you are interested in hosting a summer intern, reach out to Shannon Shelton for more information.

Mock Interview

December

Annual Mock Interviews for Sophomore's take place in December. All Sophomores across our four High Schools will interview from 8am-12noon. This event takes place simultaneously at each high school.

Join the Game of Life

December

Each December, all 6th graders in the NKCSD participate in the Game of Life, which is an interactive simulation where students are given a family, job, and salary, then make real-world choices about housing, food, and other expenses. By balancing needs and wants, they learn practical budgeting and money management skills they’ll use in the future.
