Hello! Welcome to Lakewood Elementary School — Home of the Leopards!
Lakewood Elementary School has a rich history in the North Kansas City School District. Established in 1956, Lakewood opened its doors in the fall of 1957.
Our school is located in Kansas City, Missouri and sits across a beautiful scenic lake. It is one of 21 elementary schools in the North Kansas City Schools and currently has the smallest student population in the district.
Lakewood currently serves kindergarten through fifth grade, with approximately 235 students. Class size averages approximately 22 students. In addition to our core curriculum, we offer art, physical education, computer technology and music. Our fifth grade students have the opportunity to participate in an additional music program, learning how to play a string instrument.
Our school day starts with our bell ringing at 8:45 a.m., and we end our day at 3:40 p.m. Due to teacher collaboration days, we have early release Thursdays that are posted on our school calendar. On those days, students are released from school at 3:05 p.m.
We have an active PTA and various events scheduled that make for a fun year for our students. We have a strong sense of community and support.
