  • Free Diabetes Education Sessions

Posted by April Anderson on 11/6/2018 10:00:00 AM

Diabetes is a chronic condition that can be very challenging. Daily we are met with opportunities that can distract us from making good decisions that keep our diabetes in check. In order to be successful at maintaining your goal of managing your diabetes, you must arm yourself with knowledge, tools and support.

At Meritas Health Vivion Clinic, we have a Certified Diabetic Educator available every 3rd Wednesday from 4-5pm at the Vivion Clinic to do just that. We have three topics in the series, they are repeated so if you miss a session, you can catch it in the next series and you may attend as often as you like.  The first in the series is Diabetes 101- we review the basics of this metabolic process, what are the “numbers” that we are monitoring and what do they mean. The second session is Carbohydrates and Diabetic Nutrition; we focus on carbohydrates, building better plates and the effect of carbohydrates with exercise. The third in the series is Medications and Their Role- we will review how the medications work and what types of medications are best for individual needs.

Not only do you learn about diabetes in a supportive group environment, but also have an opportunity to ask many questions to individualize your care.

To join us simply call Erika, Care Coordinator, 816-691-1490 to reserve your spot.
