ParentSquare

New for fall 2026, our district's primary communication platform is ParentSquare. Based on feedback from families about the need to consolidate, we're streamlining how we connect and share information. ParentSquare brings together many of the communication tools previously used across the district (such as ClassDojo, SportsYou, and TalkingPoints) into one place. Instead of checking multiple apps or websites, families can receive school and classroom updates, communicate with staff, sign permission slips, complete forms, and receive emergency notifications through a single platform.

ParentSquare is available as a free mobile app for Apple and Android devices, through any web browser, or simply through email and text messages. All district parents and guardians will be automatically registered for ParentSquare emails and text messages. For more information, continue reading or visit our ParentSquare webpage.

Using ParentSquare, you can:

• Choose the notification methods that work best for you: email, text message, and/or app notification.
• Read announcements from your school, teachers, and the district.
• Send and receive direct messages with school staff.
• Sign permission slips and complete forms electronically.
• RSVP for events, conferences, and other activities.
• Sign up to volunteer or bring requested items.
• Receive emergency notifications and important time-sensitive updates.
• Access automatic translation in more than 100 languages.

From Your Student's School

Each of our schools also prioritizes communication with parents and guardians. All buildings will use ParentSquare as their main platform for sending messages and updates to families. 

• Regular updates and newsletters 
• Shared calendar of upcoming events
• Social media accounts on Facebook and Instagram
• Your child's teachers may also utilize a folder system, planner or other tool to help you stay up-to-date on classroom happenings. 
• In alignment with our efforts to "go green" and minimize paper waste, building-wide letters and information are sent home in students' backpacks only in certain important circumstances. Flyers for local events and programming are distributed digitally through Peachjar. 

Urgent Communications

There may occasionally arise a situation where the school needs to contact a parent quickly or in an emergency situation. It is vitally important that we have your correct, current contact information on file for these instances. If you would like to check or update your contact details, please contact your child's school. 

In an emergency or if special precautions like a lockdown or other safety measures are implemented, NKC Schools may utilize any of the direct communication methods above to email, call or text parents and guardians. While we always aim to share information with families as quickly as possible, our first goal is to secure the building and ensure the safety of students and staff. Then, we are able notify families and staff of what we know and our next steps as needed. You can read more about our emergency response plans here.
