Chouteau 5th Grader Will Compete in State Math Contest

Briarcliff Elementary hosted the Regional Missouri Council of Teachers of Mathematics (MoCTM) Math Contest on Saturday, March 7.

More than 150 fourth, fifth, and sixth grade students from the Kansas City area participated, representing 10 different schools.  Several district students placed, including Jackie Murray, a Chouteau fifth grader, who placed 5th Overall for Grade 5 students.

He will represent Chouteau Elementary and North Kansas City Schools in the State MoCTM Math Contest on Saturday, April 25, to be held on the campus of the University of Central Missouri-Warrensburg.

Other students who placed in their division are:

  • Nicholas Boley (Bell Prairie)
    1st Place - Grade 4 - Number Sense

  • Maddie Wright (Bell Prairie)
    2nd Place - Grade 4 - Sprint

  • Wesley McFarland (Briarcliff)
    3rd Place - Grade 5 - Target

  • Jackie Murray (Chouteau)
    5th Place - Grade 5 - Target

  • Ali Hussein (Chouteau)
    4th Place - Grade 5 - Sprint

Those earning Honorable Mention as the Top Overall Student from their school include fifth graders Kai White of Bell Prairie, Wesley McFarland of Briarcliff, Jackie Murray of Chouteau, and Irene Lansangan of Meadowbrook.
