The Greater Kansas City School Counselor Association has selected Topping Elementary counselor Tammy Bunch, Ed.D., as their 2015 Elementary School Counselor of the Year.

Over the past nine years that Dr. Bunch has served Topping Elementary, she has worked to organize supports for students and their families, whether through weekend food backpacks, holiday assistance, or clothing through Operation School Bell. Always available to her students, she is often the listening ear and voice for parents, struggling to help their children, work with outside agencies and organizations.

She currently is the lead counselor for North Kansas City Schools and helps other elementary counselors implement curriculum and deal with school issues.

"Tammy loves our kids and families at Topping," said Principal Dana Miller learning of the selection. "She inspires greatness from both."

Dr. Bunch will receive her award at the association's spring banquet April 28 in Raytown.
