On Monday, May 18, in a surprise visit to her school, Sophia Mesa, an eighth grade student at Eastgate Middle School, was presented a $2,500 Vincent Legacy Scholarship for professional dance, voice and/or acting training.

Mesa is the daughter of Connie and Edward Mesa of Kansas City North.

According to Starlight Theatre, this is the tenth year that local community leaders Greg and Rebecca Reid, creators of the Vincent Legacy Scholarship Fund at Starlight, have made the award to ethnically diverse middle school students.

The Reids established the scholarship endowment fund to provide youth who demonstrate performing arts promise, strong academic achievement and good citizenship the opportunity to further refine and improve their creative skills through professional instruction.

To date, 22 scholarships with a total value of $55,000 have been awarded to these talented students.

Faith Endsley is a recent 2018 graduate of Staley High School and her story is a miraculous tale of conquering extreme challenges and thriving against all odds.
