Antioch Teacher Earns VFW National Citizenship Education Teacher Award

The Veterans of Foreign Wars of the U.S. recently announced Jeffrey Benes, a 7th grade teacher at Antioch Middle School, as one of three teacher winners in its 2017 Smart/Maher VFW National Citizenship Education Teacher Award contest. Benes is an Iraq War veteran who was awarded for his involvement in Antioch’s Veterans Day program, annual field trips to the National World War I Museum, and his dedication to encouraging his students to understand and be active in the political process.
