It is an exciting time for NKC Schools -- Thanks to our community, the $114 million bond package, approved by voters last August, allows us to construct two new elementary schools, repurpose two existing buildings into sixth grade centers and introduce a whole new North Kansas City High School beginning in the fall of 2018!
We would like to ask for your help again as we look to name our new buildings!
Specifically, we are looking for suggestions for the:
- New Elementary School at 108th and N. Eastern
- North Sixth Grade Center – 92nd and N. Indiana
- South Sixth Grade Center – Parvin Road and N. Brighton (currently Eastgate Middle School)
The second elementary school being built will replace the existing Northview Elementary School and will retain the name in its new location.
A few guidelines on naming suggestions:
Schools may be named for
- Geographic areas
- Physical locations
- Prominent topographical features
- Ideas or images
We are looking for names that are dignified and respectful, will stand the test of time and are appropriate for an educational facility. A committee of students, staff, parents and patrons will review all the suggestions and present a short list to the Board of Education for final selection.
It’s easy to submit a suggestion – just click here! We’re taking name recommendations until February 28. Good Luck!
