Free Developmental Screenings for all children ages 3 months - 5 years; living within NKC Schools Boundaries
Developmental screenings provide information on your child's growth and development. Areas of development screened include motor, language, cognitive, social-emotional, and self-help as well as health, hearing, vision, and dental checks.
Preschool is also available in our community.
The list below is provided for informational purposes only. Use of this list does not constitute a referral.

Children over the age of 4 and interested in the free preschool programs

If your child is under the age of 3 and you would like a developmental screening to learn more about their development or because you have developmental concerns contact Parents as Teachers.

If your child is over the age of 3 and you have developmental concerns, the Early Education Center provides a free developmental screening. Through this screening, you will receive additional information on your child's development as well as connections to resources that can support you and your child.

NKC Schools offers free half-day and full-day preschool to children the year prior to kindergarten.
Eligibility requirements:
- Birth dates between 08/01/18 and 07/31/19
- Completed developmental screening
- Families must meet Free & Reduced Meal guidelines (see below) for the Free Full day program
Screenings for free preschool for the 2023-24 school year are complete.

We will begin screening for the 2024-25 school year in January 2024. Please check back in December for signups for next school year.
