12 Schools Honored for Positive Behavior Support

In the 2021-2022 school year, 26 schools in the Kansas City region earned recognition for their implementation of School-Wide Positive Behavior Support (SW-PBS) and 12 of them were NKC Schools! SW-PBS is a proactive approach to teaching behavioral expectations to improve student behavior, and maximize instructional time and student engagement and supports whole group, small group and individual student needs.
 
Congratulations to these twelve schools:
Gold: Clardy, Eastgate, Lakewood, Maplewood, Meadowbrook, Ravenwood, Topping, West Englewood
Silver: Crestview, Fox Hill, Nashua
Bronze: Davidson
 
Clardy & Eastgate were also recognized for 10-years of consistent and effective implementation! Thank you for your long-standing commitment and dedication!
 
In addition, Maplewood and Topping Elementary Schools were 2022 Dr. Mary Richter School of Distinction Award nominees! The Dr. Mary Richter Award is given to a school each year that exemplifies the ideals, principles, and practices of positive behavior support. Congratulations to our Maplewood & Topping staff!
Since the district adopted the School-Wide Positive Behavior Support system in 2008, NKC Schools has been recognized over 94 times for PBS implementation models. Thank you to all who serve our students! Congrats!
